Expand Your Practice – “Music Moves Me” Program for Parkinson’s

In collaboration with experienced physical and music therapists, Biodex brings sensorimotor music enhancements to its Gait Trainer 3 treadmill. A first in neurologic rehabilitation, the Gait Trainer 3 hosts a library of tempo-to-cadence matched music selections designed to inspire correct movement.

The Gait Trainer’s instrumented track detects where each foot strikes as a patient walks, and displays those footsteps on a large LCD screen. The track of the Gait Trainer records step length, step speed, and step symmetry, documenting the effectiveness of gait therapy. This combination of gait repetition, biofeedback and therapist-informed music is intended to enhance neuroplasticity, to recover movement lost to injury or disease.

For clinics seeking to convert patients to members beyond insurance-approved sessions, Biodex supports various programs, including those for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Introducing Music Moves Me featuring the music-enhanced Gait Trainer 3.

Help patients with Parkinson’s disease improve ambulation, increase function and reduce the risk of fall. With more than 60,000 new Parkinson’s cases reported annually, Biodex Balance & Mobility devices can help this growing, and underserved population.
